Sisterhood December 2020

SISTERHOOD

It’s Hanukkah season and that means latkes and Suzi Cruz here at PPJC. Suzi will be sharing her unique boutique with us at our regular meeting Tuesday, December 1 at 10:30. If we are meeting on Zoom, use https://zoom.us/j/7675439859 to join us. If you would rather join by phone, call Rebecca Reinstein, 305-606- 9312. Check out our Facebook page or website for up-to-date information or call Rebecca. Everyone is welcome and this is a great time to pick up those special holiday gifts or restock your supply of cosmetics.

Latkes top the menu for our next Pick-Up meal event, Sunday, December 13 from 11 12 at the Synagogue. Diamond’s will provide a light holiday lunch: Entrée choice of ¼ baked chicken - white or dark meat, or salmon with 4 Latkes with apple sauce, wrapped hot dogs, cornbread, Hanukkah Gel t chocolates for $18. Get you reservations into Sandi Rutner,954-437-8224.

If you missed our November meeting, we honored Shirley Shapiro, who recently passed, with a reading of one of her signature witty stories, which have entertained many of us for decades. Staci Schnell gave us great tips and answered questions about dealing with stress during the pandemic. Many people shared their own experiences and helpful hints. The main takeaways were reach out to others, don’t isolate, and find something you love to do and do it. She also reminded us of a special service here in Broward County; Dial 211 or go to http://211- broward.org/senior-touchline/ to access a variety of sup- port services. You can reach Staci at the Counseling and Wellness Center of South Florida at 954-951-2929.

Mary Dobrinsky will be back this month and along with Barbara Fisher, they are making appointments to visit the giftshop on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Call Barbara at 954-815-0848 and come in and see Mary’s one-of-a-kind jewelry, Judaica, and secular gifts.

Call Dennie Deringer at 954-559-1448 to arrange to pay your dues or send a check to PPJC 1200 SW 136th Avenue or use the Donate button on our website.

Because of the success of our pick-up meal events, we’ll have donated $2500 to the temple. Thanks to everyone’s support during the pandemic challenge. We’re working on new programs for 2021 including book reviews, a socially distanced picnic, cooking demonstrations, and much more. AvMed sponsored another event in our parking lot in November and had a great turn out for gifts, snacks, music, and a chance to learn more about their health plan. AvMed also sponsors many free events you can participate in. For Dancing with TJ, book reviews, and more go to https://www. avmed.org/about-us/calendar. Everyone welcome. Don’t forget, you can always find the latest information on our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/ PPJC954.When you visit, be sure and “Like” the page, comment on events, and Follow us, to help spread the word. Visit our website for more temple information and live streaming of services. (https://PembrokePinesJewish C om/)
