President's Message February 2021

Joel, Peggy, Merv and Trudi wish all our PPJC family a happy, healthy and fruitful New Year. May we see better days and may our congregation continue to grow and prosper. May the coming days bring us closer together and help us share only good things and events with our Temple family and bring us closer to each other.

Since we have had to remain closed for the past ten months, we have had many unexpected expenditures and our proposed budget has had to be revised. In an effort to keep you all aware of what is happening in our Synagogue, we have tried to have several drive-bys, Zoom meetings, streaming of services and announcements, phone tree messages and more. If, for any reason, you are not getting the messages, please let us know. We are trying to keep our programs going, broadcasting the Rabbi’s messages twice a week, zooming Sisterhood, Men’s Club and Temple Board Meetings. Announcements are made every Friday Night and Saturday morning after services and the Newsletter is still being sent every month. You can get further information by checking into our website at PembrokePinesJewishCenter.Com

As you are all aware, the numbers are once again beginning to go up which means that we don’t know when we will be able to reopen. We hope that it will not be too long, but we DO need your financial help in order to stay afloat. Remember, we must still abide by CDC recommendations. Be sure to wear your masks, maintain proper distance and wash your hands regularly. Sanitized wipes are available in the Temple and you are encouraged to use the sanitizer whenever needed.

Don’t forget to join us in the raffle for a year’s free membership for July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. For only $10.00 you can get a chance to win the year’s free membership. We will draw a name each month from January through June, 2021. Every entry of $10.00 give you a chance to win. We will announce the winner of each month on the first Friday of the following month, just before services. Don’t be left out. Take a chance and you may be a winner. For more information, contact Steve Reinstein at 305-502-7755.

We want to remind you that you can help us while still helping yourselves. You can sponsor flowers for Shabbat services for only $65.00, purchase a Memorial plaque for $200.00, purchase a leaf on the Tree of Life for $125.00, participate in Drive by dinners, contribute to the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, send greeting cards from the office and participate in many other activities. Participating in these events helps toward maintaining our budget. Please make your pledges now so we can plan accordingly. Pledges for Yom Kippur, Yizkor, plaques, flowers or even dues can be paid off throughout the year so that it doesn’t hit you too hard at one time.

Be sure to Stay safe and healthy.

L’Hitraot,

Joel Glickman and Merv Levin, co-presidents
